The primary goals of your Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce are to provide Networking opportunities for local businesses, Education for local business people and events to bring prospective customers to our local businesses.
Winter is generally cool in the Colorado Mountains. Plenty of incredible skiing including some of the best powder in the world, all without waiting in lines. Fantastic big game with Elk, Mule Deer, Pronghorn Antelope, Bighorn Sheep Moose, Bear and Mountain Lion frequent the area within 45 minutes for viewing or hunting. The two National Wildlife Refuges near here offer some of the best waterfowl hunting and birding you’ll find anywhere. All these and many other winter activities can be enjoyed in almost any direction from Alamosa! The Chamber along with the Marketing Board and the City of Alamosa also sponsors an Ice Festival with Ice Carving and other winter related activities.
Spring brings the ArtWalk to our fair city. Local artists join local businesses to display their world renowned artwork all over town. Many of the showing businesses will also have refreshments along the way and prizes are given to both artists and “Art Walkers”.
Summer time is wonderful in Southern Colorado! People from all over the country visit our incredible resources like the Great Sand Dune National Monument. They even find excuses to do business here in the summer just for the excuse to enjoy our mild weather and cool sunshine. Your Alamosa Chamber of Commerce sponsors several events to keep those people busy while they are here. From the Independence Day Parade to partnering with local businesses for a street dance and beer garden the week of our Alamosa Round-up Rodeo. A local Antique Car Club sponsors a huge Early Iron Car Show on Labor Day to wind down those dog days as over 500 automobiles from all over the western United States descend on our city for the long holiday weekend. Everyone plays a part in the biggest event of the year!
But fall in the San Luis Valley is Heaven! The weather is perfect. Warm days and cool nights, stunning autumn colors in the Cottonwoods, Oak and Aspen. Those who enjoy the outdoors are never inside in the fall. And the Chamber is just now starting to put together an event to fit the occasion! Stay tuned. We’ll let you know when we can!
When you live in a place as beautiful as the San Luis Valley, with so many things to do, the one commodity we all run shortest on every month is time. So our Chamber Business Network meeting, held the second Wednesday of every Month at the Bistro Rialto 6 PM does a great job of covering many of the bases of a Chamber of Commerce in one meeting. First, it’s like Networking on Steroids! It’s your perfect chance to introduce yourself and your business to dozens of other successful business people each month! We also have a guest speaker to educate the audience, and a couple of local businesses in various stages of growth will present the challenges they might be having for advice from our group.
The Chamber has other more typical meetings such as socials etc, but we’re always looking for ideas that will make us different, better!
So if you live here, and you’re not yet part of the Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce, I just have one question; why? And if you don’t live here yet, I guess the question I have for you is, what are you waiting for?
