There’s always something happening in the San Luis Valley! Make sure you don’t miss any of the amazing events and festivals throughout the region by keeping a close eye on the 365 Alamosa Events calendar.

Alamosa and the San Luis Valley has a great selection of events to keep every visitor entertained. Music lovers won’t want to miss such great events as Sundays @ Six, or Summerfest on the Rio, which brings some of the country’s most talented musicians to Colorado for some amazing entertainment.  How about an action-packed rodeo, or a gorgeous day in the park checking out arts and crafts and eating scrumptious food?

Rio Frio Ice Fest - January

What better way to shake off those winter cobwebs than to get outside and enjoy Mother Nature's spectacular winter beauty. Rio Frio Ice Fest's main event is a 5K race across the frozen Rio Grande River. Enjoy the taste of Alamosa with the Grub n' Pub in downtown Alamosa and watch sculptors turn huge blocks of ice into amazing frozen works of art.  This icy event is held each January.  For more information visit www.riofrioice.com  

Sundays at Six - June- August
One of the mainstays of the Alamosa Live Music Association is its free summer concert series, Sundays @ Six.  Sundays @ Six started a few years back and has grown into a hallmark of the San Luis Valley summertime season.  For two of the most beautiful months in the San Luis Valley, the community is exposed to all kinds of music, performed by everyone from the neighbor down the street to nationally recognized touring musicians. www.almaonline.org

Weekends on the Rio - June -August
Joining in on the fun of Sundays @ Six is the Weekends on the Rio. Starting Sunday afternoon enjoy a relaxing session of yoga, a running clinic, paddle boarding, and for the kids a bike pump track. Alamosa Round-up Rodeo - 
The Alamosa Round-Up PRCA Rodeo has been a part of Western Heritage in Alamosa, Colorado for over 30 years. The Alamosa Round-Up brings a full week of activities to the San Luis Valley.  Don't miss the Downtown Cattle Drive and Demolition Derby Parade. Top Bull Riders from around the country as well as future champion cowboys don their hats, chap up, and put on a show for the fans. The Alamosa Round-Up Bull Riding is a prime event in the San Luis Valley.  Some of the best Bull Riders in the PRCA and PBR match up with the top Honeycutt Bulls. The Bull Riding alone is worth the trip to town.

If the Bull Riding doesn’t fill your need for danger, there’s always The Demolition Derby with both local and out-of-state drivers.  The Derby is sure to thrill.  The dirt flying, car-smashing action of the Demolition Derby is not to be missed.  You don’t want to miss the flames and sparks of the Demolition Derby! www.alamosaroundup.com

Beat the Heat BBQ, August
Beat the Heat is a 2-day event where professional BBQ teams compete for 15K in cash prizes. Held in annually in Alamosa, Colorado, teams travel from all over to compete. The public can sample BBQ During the People's Choice category then vote for their favorite. Activities during the event include a Hot Pepper Chow Down, a Cornhole Tournament, a Hogwaller Mud Run, a Craft Beer Tasting, Yard Games & a Beer Garden.

Early Iron Festival Car Show - Labor Day Weekend
Early Iron Festival is a great time to see over 500 vintage vehicles painstakingly restored, heavily modified, or gently used.  Take in the sunshine and sights as you explore the machinery of yesteryear.  The rodders circle Cole Park early Saturday morning looking forward to a day of talking, swapping, and catching up with old friends.  Car buffs from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Kansas swarm the park, oohing and aahing, choosing their favorite and trading stories about their first car.  After an enjoyable day in the autumn sun, the Early Iron Club hosts a rodders banquet to a capacity crowd of 650. Food and beverages are available on the main day of the event throughout the park. 

Alamosa Arts Festival- Spetember
A two-day festival celebrating Art in Alamosa. The celebration features Alamosa's Art on Loan Program, Live music, Chalk Art, and Local Artists and Businesses in an ArtWALK.
