Narrow Gauge Book Co-op
The Narrow Gauge Book Cooperative is an independent, community-owned bookstore
in the heart of downtown Alamosa. Inhabiting the former location of the Narrow Gauge
Newsstand, the NGBC opened in August of 2018 and continues the legacy of cultivating
community through literacy. On their shelves, you’ll find a diverse selection of books,
both new and used, a section dedicated to local authors and local history, and a wide
variety of gift items, many of them created by local makers!
Each month you’ll find an offering of author readings, workshops, and book discussions,
a featured artist, and a featured local nonprofit for the Round-Up program. Additionally,
the NGBC is host to the monthly Spadefoot Story Slam Community – a monthly story-
telling event inspired by the Moth Story Hour, and host to the Indie Press Book Club,
which meets every other month.
The Narrow Gauge Book Cooperative is grateful to be part of the downtown community,
and a hub for literature and art gatherings in the San Luis Valley.
