Living History: The Life of a Buffalo Soldier

Discover the powerful legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers, who patrolled the Great Sand Dunes region from 1876 to 1879. These segregated Black military units served with honor and courage during a challenging era, earning more Medals of Honor than any other U.S. military unit of their time.

Join retired U.S. Army Medical Service Corps Officer Terrance Beasley for a free multimedia presentation at 11am in the Visitor Center, followed by a Q&A and hands-on exploration of a Buffalo Soldier tent and equipment display.

Regular park entrance fees apply.
