Family Archeology Day @ Great Sand Dunes

Saturday July 12th.
Children and their families are invited to join the staff of Great Sand Dunes National Park and
Preserve on July 12 th to learn about the lives of the valley’s indigenous people through living artifacts and discover
how real archaeologists protect and document our culturally modified trees.
The event will take place from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.
The program is designed for all 8 years of age or older. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants
will need to bring closed-toe shoes, a packed lunch, sunscreen, water, and sun hat, and be prepared for
approximately a mile of hiking, with some off-trail.
Space for the event is limited, and participants are required to register in advance. Contact the park at

per vehicle or a National Parks pass will apply.
