Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce: About Us

The Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce is managed by a Board of Directors, professional staff and volunteer committees. There are currently about 235 Members from all industries supporting the Chamber and occasionally volunteering their time. There are Members from all six Counties of the San Luis Valley.

The Alamosa Chamber has a informal partnership with three other organizations, the purpose of which is to work collaboratively and to share the staff, offices, equipment. This creates a significant amount of synergy between the organizations, eliminates duplication of efforts and serves to create efficiencies and cost savings. These three organizations are The Alamosa County Tourism Development Board, The Alamosa County Local Marketing District and the Alamosa Downtown Merchants, Inc.

The operation is housed in the historic depot located at Cole Park in downtown Alamosa. This building was donated to the Chamber by the late Carl Helfin. It is a replica of the Mancos, Colorado railroad depot.

The Chamber also owns the historic Engine 169 located across the street. The engine is currently being restored by the Friends of the 169 and will one day ride the rails again in the San Luis Valley.
