Alamosa, Colorado, Wolf Creek Ski AreaWolf Creek Ski Area is a high alpine ski resort, often boasting the deepest snow in Colorado. Frequently under deep blue skies, skiers experience gliding through abundant, deep power. Monarch Mountain features all natural snow and short lift lines. Approximately 2 hours from Alamosa, the resort is located on the Continental Divide, 18 miles west of Poncha Springs.

In addition to an extensive trail system, Monarch has 130 acres of extremem back country skiing.

Cross country skiing is very popular in our area. Trail maps are available from the Rio Grande Nation Forest office, 719-852-5941. Cumbres Pass Yurt System Ski Tour maps are available online. The San Juan Nordic Club helps maintain trails in the area. 

Back country skiing

Interested in something less strenous? The Inn of the Rio Grande Water Park features three pools, a splash, a recreation pool, and a kiddie pool. Thrill on a slide down the 21-foot high, 155-foot long giant water slide.
