The North American Falconer's Association will be visiting Alamosa from November 24-29, and will be staying at the Inn of the Rio Grande. They will have a series of informational speakers, as well as predatory hunting throughout the week. The birds of prey will be taken to private land (owners have granted permission) and set free to showcase their predatory skills on hunting the available game. The public is invited to come view some of the raptors at their convention headquarters (Inn of the Rio Grande) in their weathering yard.
Monte Vista Crane Festival For the past 2,000 years, the Monte Vista Wildlife Refuge has witnessed the migration of thousands of sandhill cranes. This year the 31st Annual Monte Vista Crane Festival will be March 7-9, and will be educational as well as fun. They will have an arts & crafts fair, bus tours, and educational lectures at the Middle School by biologists & wildlife experts
