Open year round is the Sand Dunes Swimming Pool & RV Park. During the early 1930's hot water was struck near Hooper while drillers were exploring for oil. The hot well water enters the 150,000 gallon pool at 118 degrees and the pool's temperature is maintained between 98 and 102 degrees depending on the season. The adjoining 24 person therapy pool stays a consistent 108 to 109 degrees. The pool offers Colorado’s best snack bar, family fun, relaxation and rejuvenation, just 20 miles from Alamosa.
